Is NASA’s new SLS moon rocket worth the cost?

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The enormous Space Launch System (SLS), NASA’s new moon rocket, is finally ready to fly.

SLS is scheduled to lift off this morning (Aug. 29) on Artemis 1the first mission in NASA’s Artemis program of moon exploration. If all goes according to plan, the 322-foot-tall (98 meters) rocket will lift off at 8:33 am EDT (1233 GMT) from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center (KSC) here on the Space Coast, sending an uncrewed Orion capsule on a six-week journey to lunar orbit and back.
